## St. Louis and El Paso Turn the Pennant Races Into Four-Team Battles

Cincinnati and Houston remain in first place, but dominant weeks from St. Louis and El Paso transformed both circuits into increasingly complicated races as May came to a close.

By PBC Weekly Desk, Professional Baseball Circuit

The question**Who controls the league as the calendar turns toward June?**

Cincinnati leads the East at 17-3 with St. Louis only two games behind, while Houston's advantage over El Paso has shrunk to a single game after another dramatic week across the Western Circuit.

Lead analysis

## The Chasers Are No Longer Chasing Quietly

By PBC Weekly Desk, Professional Baseball Circuit

The league leaders still occupy familiar positions, but the stories that defined the fifth week belonged to the clubs applying pressure. St. Louis swept Washington and climbed within two games of Cincinnati. El Paso swept Minnesota and reduced Houston's lead to a single game. Philadelphia rediscovered its offense, while Boston continued its steady recovery after an uneven opening month.

The week's signature moment came in Miami, where Cincinnati survived one of the most exhausting games in league history. Christiaan Linders and John Weber each delivered solo home runs in the twentieth inning to lift the Regents in the fifth-longest regular-season extra-inning game in PBC history. That victory preserved Cincinnati's position atop the Eastern Circuit, but the larger story was unmistakable: the margin for error is shrinking.

Every series, every week

## Eastern Circuit Recap

Cincinnati remained in first place, but St. Louis delivered the week's strongest message while Boston and Philadelphia rebuilt momentum.

Atlanta Pilots won 3-1

![Atlanta Pilots logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-e4d73948-3e42-45fa-bd00-04d5cac8cbb1.png)

### Atlanta Pilots vs. Detroit Motors

Atlanta controlled most of this series at The Motor Yard by combining consistent offense with enough pitching to neutralize Detroit's best moments. Justin Lynn and Ricardo Contreras formed an effective offensive partnership, combining for 16 hits and eight runs batted in while repeatedly extending innings. Detroit answered with an outstanding performance from Jeff Paull, whose six scoreless innings and nine strikeouts represented one of the week's best individual pitching efforts. Injuries continued to shape both clubs. Detroit remained without Mike Partain, while Atlanta continued operating around Arturo Ramos' long-term absence. The Pilots absorbed those challenges more effectively, capturing three games and preventing Detroit from building on the momentum generated earlier in May.

Outstanding Performer**Justin Lynn (Atlanta Pilots)**

8-for-16, 4 RBI, 0 BB.

Boston Shamrocks won 3-1

![Boston Shamrocks logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-c71e54e9-0991-415a-8a6e-5ece350d63a2.png)

### Boston Shamrocks vs. Tampa Bay Thunder

After dropping the opener at The Thunder Bowl, Boston responded with one of the week's most emphatic turnarounds. The Shamrocks outscored Tampa Bay 37-8 over the final three games, including a 20-run eruption that completely changed the series. Jeremy Barnes reached base almost at will, while Eric Eriksen added eight runs batted in and repeatedly punished Thunder pitching. Josh Millard provided Tampa Bay with an excellent outing that briefly suggested the series might remain competitive. Boston's performance became even more impressive considering the club continued to navigate injuries to Jaiden Swinton, John Kelso and Frank Robinson. The Shamrocks suddenly look much deeper than their early-season record suggested.

Outstanding Performer**Jeremy Barnes (Boston Shamrocks)**

10-for-19, 5 RBI, 3 BB.

Split 2-2

![Chicago Union logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-2a88ce7a-611e-4a98-9b1d-acf58870731d.png)

### Chicago Union vs. New York City Gothams

For two games, Chicago appeared ready to seize control after winning both contests behind strong pitching and timely offense. Kuranosuke Boulanger set that tone with five scoreless innings, while the Union overcame an injury to Jordan Blackwell to take an early advantage. Then New York exploded. Conor Kirk delivered one of the week's most productive offensive performances, driving in nine runs while drawing five walks, and Juan Amarante added six more runs batted in as the Gothams scored 23 runs over the final two games. Danny Siles remained unavailable for New York, but the offensive outburst transformed a disappointing start into a valuable split and prevented Chicago from gaining ground. The Union will be limping home to face New York City next week without Blackwell or Jay Clinkscales in their offense.

Outstanding Performer**Conor Kirk (New York City Gothams)**

8-for-15, 9 RBI, 5 BB.

Cincinnati Regents won 3-1

![Cincinnati Regents logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-493e4e94-3631-408e-8124-115fa818a290.png)

### Cincinnati Regents vs. Miami Sun Sox

Sun Sox Stadium hosted the week's most memorable game and perhaps the defining moment of Cincinnati's season to this point. The Regents captured three games, but the extraordinary twentieth-inning marathon overshadowed everything else. Christiaan Linders and rookie John Weber delivered solo home runs in the twentieth inning to secure a 5-3 victory in the fifth-longest regular-season extra-inning game in league history. Matt Fisher drove in eight runs across the series, while Jaheim Kinney added another dominant performance and remained tied for the Eastern Circuit lead with four victories. Miami battled through injuries to pitchers Jon Reeves and Manny Gomez, and Cesar Cerros was exceptional in limited opportunities, but Cincinnati once again demonstrated why it remains the club everyone else is chasing.

Outstanding Performer**Matt Fisher (Cincinnati Regents)**

5-for-18, 8 RBI, 4 BB.

Philadelphia Keystones won 4-0

![Nashville Bluebirds logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-2d63ecd2-6040-4e77-9f12-c6d84b34b03c.png)

### Nashville Bluebirds vs. Philadelphia Keystones

Philadelphia arrived at Johnny Cash Field needing answers and left with a sweep. Felipe Gutierrez led the offensive surge with nine hits and six runs batted in, while Conrad Fox continued his productive month by adding five more runs batted in. Elton Clifford provided Nashville with one of the few consistent offensive performances, but the Bluebirds never found a way to slow Philadelphia's lineup. The Keystones have remained virtually injury-free this season and that has provided consistency throughout the club. Around Philadelphia, the mood shifted noticeably. The club finally provided its fans with something more tangible than optimism: evidence that a turnaround might actually be underway.

Outstanding Performer**Felipe Gutierrez (Philadelphia Keystones)**

9-for-19, 6 RBI, 1 BB.

St. Louis Lions won 4-0

![St. Louis Lions logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-6593d2c5-f8c3-4e94-b119-4078fe1a52c2.png)

### St. Louis Lions vs. Washington Warriors

No series carried greater implications in the Eastern Circuit. At The Lions Hearth, St. Louis swept Washington and reduced Cincinnati's lead to just two games. Alex Mendez delivered the defining performance, tying the circuit lead with eight home runs while extending his Eastern Circuit-leading RBI total to 24\. Juan Tercero provided additional offensive support, while Mike Ryals continued pitching well even as Washington's offense disappeared around him. Both clubs entered the week dealing with injuries, including lengthy absences for Danny Carroll, Mike Herig and Jackson Vaive. St. Louis simply handled those obstacles better. The Lions suddenly look less like a surprise contender and more like a legitimate threat to Cincinnati's early control of the division.

Outstanding Performer**Alex Mendez (St. Louis Lions)**

4-for-14, 8 RBI, 1 BB; tied Eastern Circuit leader: 8 HR; Eastern Circuit leader: 24 RBI.

Every series, every week

## Western Circuit Recap

El Paso surged, Houston stumbled, and several tightly contested series reshaped the standings heading into June.

Split 2-2

![Arizona Suns logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-ae1f02f6-3c4d-47b7-bdd9-506cd9675839.png)

### Arizona Suns vs. San Diego Roadrunners

Tony Gwynn Park delivered one of the week's most entertaining series as Arizona and San Diego traded momentum across four tightly contested games. Noah Jones continued establishing himself as one of the league's most dynamic players, collecting 10 hits while maintaining a share of the Western Circuit stolen-base lead with 19\. Abel Smith added four runs batted in for the Roadrunners, but Arizona countered with outstanding pitching from John Johnson and enough offense to steal the finale in an 11-10 thriller. San Diego continued to navigate a growing injury list that included Blaine Feeney, Travis Rohe and Luis Lopez. The split reflected two evenly matched clubs that may see each other again in more meaningful games later in the year.

Outstanding Performer**Noah Jones (San Diego Roadrunners)**

10-for-17, 5 RBI, 2 BB; tied Western Circuit leader: 19 SB.

Dallas Texans won 3-1

![Dallas Texans logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-ca6bd11b-d399-4a3e-9bbd-032ad36c545a.png)

### Dallas Texans vs. Houston Mavericks

Houston entered the week as the league's hottest team and left after absorbing one of its most surprising defeats. Dallas dominated the first three games at Mavericks Ballpark by a combined score of 24-4 before Houston avoided a sweep in the finale. Jason Youngsma and Brian Pratt consistently pressured Houston pitching, combining for 12 hits and nine runs batted in. Clodio Corsino delivered Houston's best pitching performance, but it wasn't enough to overcome an offense that rarely found traction. Injuries continued to affect both clubs, with Willie Marquez unavailable for Houston and Jason Talcott likely out for the season in Dallas. The result also reshaped the Texas Cup standings and reopened a Western race that briefly appeared to belong to Houston alone.

Outstanding Performer**Jason Youngsma (Dallas Texans)**

5-for-14, 6 RBI, 3 BB.

Denver Cutthroats won 3-1

![Denver Cutthroats logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-3eaf5527-0eea-4b23-8213-4acb4c0b2d28.png)

### Denver Cutthroats vs. Portland Pioneers

Denver arrived at Pioneers Field determined to erase the memory of the previous week's disappointment and accomplished that objective quickly. The Cutthroats scored 31 runs while winning the first three games, with Yeong-kil Koo leading the way through a combination of patience and power. Portland answered with an explosive finale behind Perry Pfeifer and Young-jin Kim, who combined for 18 runs batted in during the series and prevented a sweep. Yet the larger story remained Denver's offensive resurgence. After struggling to generate consistency earlier in the month, the Cutthroats finally resembled the lineup many expected to see entering the season.

Outstanding Performer**Yeong-kil Koo (Denver Cutthroats)**

6-for-15, 7 RBI, 4 BB.

El Paso Diablos won 4-0

![El Paso Diablos logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-5bb34075-7a83-4af7-b981-0fba3997be45.png)

### El Paso Diablos vs. Minnesota Loons

The Diablos played a familiar brand of baseball at The Asylum at Loons Ballpark: dominant pitching, relentless offense and almost no wasted opportunities. Orlando Ortiz authored his second consecutive shutout, further strengthening one of the most impressive pitching stretches in the league. Luis Guerrero added another remarkable accomplishment by launching three home runs in one game while tying for the Western Circuit lead with 21 runs batted in. Andrew Guerin performed admirably for Minnesota, but the Loons were overwhelmed while also coping with a nagging injury to RF Javier Rodriguez, as well as season-ending injuries to pitchers Arturo Garcia and Tucker Halverson. El Paso's sweep felt less like a hot streak and more like the kind of methodical, October-style baseball that has become the organization's trademark.

Outstanding Performer**Orlando Ortiz (El Paso Diablos)**

Split 2-2

![Las Vegas Aces logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-55ee34e2-c122-453b-a068-a7237a53a0ad.png)

### Las Vegas Aces vs. Seattle Gulls

Seagull Stadium hosted a wildly entertaining series in which neither club could maintain control for very long. Julian Lampkins powered Seattle with nine hits, while Rich Perez and Gui-fan Xiong repeatedly answered for Las Vegas. Xiong's nine runs batted in represented one of the week's best offensive performances, including a critical contribution during the Aces' 16-run explosion in the second game. The finale, an 8-7 Seattle victory, perfectly captured the tone of the entire series: aggressive offense, shifting momentum and almost no margin separating the two clubs.

Outstanding Performer**Julian Lampkins (Seattle Gulls)**

9-for-16, 4 RBI, 1 BB.

Los Angeles Knights won 3-1

![Los Angeles Knights logo](https://news.probaseballcircuit.com/content/images/2026/08/data-src-image-3c5d4b62-32f0-4bf8-b368-50561255066d.png)

### Los Angeles Knights vs. San Francisco Peanuts

At Garibaldi's Grounds, Los Angeles quietly put together one of the week's more impressive road performances. Corey Martin delivered eight scoreless innings to anchor the pitching staff, while Marco Camacho contributed timely offense throughout the series. San Francisco continued receiving strong play from Manny Parra, but season-ending injuries to Tony Hanner and Tim Platt along with Jose Moreno's absence left the Peanuts searching for lineup stability. Los Angeles secured the series by winning the first three games before San Francisco avoided the sweep in the finale. For the Knights, the week represented an important reminder that consistent pitching can quickly change a club's trajectory.

Outstanding Performer**Corey Martin (Los Angeles Knights)**
